 What is SWORD?

Many people will ask what SWORD is and we answer them by asking:  Who is packed with young people going to summer camp, traveling around the world on a mission trip or going just up the road roller skating and bowling?  What is filled with outreach opportunities to the nursing home, door-to-door soul-winning, and 3-on-3 basketball tournaments?  Where will you find all you can eat pizza, delicious brownie sundaes and plenty to choose from at the Sheath Cafe?  When can you find teenagers worshipping the Lord through singing, serving, and seeking?  The who, when, where and what is SWORD.  We are a youth group where teens can get together and be challanged to build their lives on time-tested principles that always guarantee success.

Take a look at what SWORD means:

⇒ Service Opportunities

We encourage all our young people to get involed in a ministry of the church.  We have eight ministry teams within the youth group from music to serving and there is always a place for you.  Go to SWORD ministries for more information.

⇒ Worship the King

At SWORD we emphasize the importance of worshipping God with every part of our life.  Our approach to worship is conservative and we do our best to be pleasing to God in everything we do.

⇒ Organized Activities

SWORD offers many different youth activities.  From Winter Retreats to sleepless All-Nighters, from Six Flags to Crazy Commercial Creations, parents can be assured that their teens are being supervised in an organized manner.

⇒ Reaching the Lost

SWORD believes that the great commission is the greatest task for all believers.  Therefore we  strive to teach each teenager how to always be prepared to lead someone to Christ and how to use their personal testimony as a witnessing tool.

⇒ Discipleship

Spiritual growth is very important in developing teens into godly young men and women.  Our Wednesday night program of fun-filled action, worship, prayer  and preaching provides challenging instruction for growing in Christ.

The philosophy of the youth ministry at Mikado is embodied in our SWORD logo.

SWORD meets every Wednesday night at 6:45 pm and for Sunday School at 9:45 am.  We meet in the  SWORD Shack in the Family Life Center of the church.
